Sell Limit

A limit order to sell at or above a specified price — placed above the current market to exit on strength or short into resistance.

Card view

A sell limit order rests above the current bid. It fills only if the market rises to your limit price or higher. Longs use sell limits as profit targets; shorts use them to enter positions at resistance without immediately hitting the bid.

Sell limits add liquidity to the book and receive maker treatment on applicable exchanges.

Example

Long XYZ at $50.00 with a resistance target at $54.00. A sell limit at $54.00 sits in the order book. When buyers lift the offer to $54.00, the limit fills and the position is closed.
