Star (candlestick)
A small-bodied candle that gaps away from the prior candle in the direction of the trend — a mid-pattern indecision signal that frames reversal setups.
In candlestick analysis, a star is a small-bodied candle (often a Doji or Spinning Top) that appears with a gap between its body and the prior candle's body. The gap separates it visually from the trend candle preceding it.
Stars are the middle component of three-candle reversal patterns — Morning Star, Evening Star, and Abandoned Baby. On their own, stars signal that the prior session's momentum is stalling: the gap shows continuation, but the small body shows the move ran out of fuel. The pattern is completed (and confirmed) by the third candle's close.
